How do I create an account?

Click "Join Free (Salon)" on the homepage if you're a salon owner, or "Join (Supplier)" if you're a supplier. Fill out the signup form and submit. You'll be able to log in immediately, but certain features require admin approval.

Why is my account pending approval?

All new accounts are reviewed by our team to ensure quality and legitimacy. Salons are typically approved within 24 hours. Suppliers are approved once we verify their business details. You'll receive access to the full platform once approved.

How do I log in after signing up?

Click "Log In" in the top right corner. Select your account type (Salon, Supplier, or Professional), enter the email and password you created during signup. If you've forgotten your password, click "Forgot password?" to reset it.

Can I update my account details?

Yes! Once logged in, go to your dashboard (Salon Dashboard or Supplier Dashboard). You can update your contact information, business details, and other settings there.

How do I delete my account?

We take data privacy seriously. Visit our Data Deletion Request page to submit a deletion request. We'll process it within 30 days as required by UK GDPR regulations.

I forgot my login details - what should I do?

On the login page, click "Forgot password?" and enter your email address. You'll receive a password reset link within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if you don't see it. The link expires after 1 hour for security.

Is it free for salons to join?

Yes! Salon membership is completely free. You get access to our verified supplier directory, compliance guides, industry news, insurance quotes, and job listings at no cost.

What do I get as a salon member?

Can I post job vacancies?

Yes! Once your account is approved and active, you can post job listings for free. Go to the Jobs page and click "Post a Job" to get started.

How do I contact suppliers?

Browse the Directory, click on any supplier listing to view their full profile, then use the "Email" or "Visit Website" buttons to get in touch directly.

How much does it cost to list my business?

We have two subscription tiers: Basic at £14.99/month (standard directory listing) and Premium at £35/month (includes Featured Listing, analytics, newsletter features, and priority support). Both give you a verified profile visible to all salon members across the UK.

How do I pay for my listing?

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. After your application is approved, you'll be directed to choose your subscription plan and complete payment online. For billing queries, contact payments@salonhub.co.uk.

What's the "Verified" badge?

The verified badge is awarded by our team to suppliers who have demonstrated reliability, quality service, and positive feedback from salon members. It helps you stand out in the directory.

Can I edit my listing after it's approved?

Yes! Log in to your Supplier Dashboard to update your company details, category, region, website, and description at any time.

How do I cancel my listing?

You can manage your subscription directly through your Stripe billing portal, accessible from your Supplier Dashboard. Alternatively, contact payments@salonhub.co.uk for assistance.

How is the directory ordered?

The same ranking rules apply consistently to all user types (Suppliers, Salons, and Professionals). Your position in the directory is determined by:

  1. Top Placement Boost (Gold Crown) - Highest visibility, limited to 3 slots
  2. Featured Listing (Orange Star) - Unlimited availability
  3. Subscription Tier - Premium suppliers rank above Basic (suppliers only)
  4. Achievement Score - The more you achieve, the higher you rank!
  5. Join Date - Earlier members rank higher as a final tiebreaker

Is Featured Listing limited?

No! Featured Listings have unlimited availability. Anyone can get a Featured badge by purchasing a boost or earning it through points. Top Placement (Gold Crown) is limited to 3 slots.

Can free members improve their ranking?

Absolutely! Salons and Professionals are free to join, and can improve their ranking by completing guides, earning badges, and staying active. The achievement-based ranking rewards engagement, not just payment.

Insurance

Do you sell insurance?

No. The Salon Hub is not an insurance broker and does not sell insurance. We partner with Oak Insurance Brokers, an FCA-regulated specialist in salon and beauty insurance, to help you get quotes.

Who is Oak Insurance Brokers?

Oak Insurance Brokers are FCA authorised and regulated specialists in salon and tanning insurance. They understand the specific needs of tanning salons and can provide tailored cover for public liability, treatment liability, employers' liability, and equipment.

Do you earn commission on insurance sales?

No. The Salon Hub receives no commission or financial benefit from insurance quotes or sales. This is purely a service to help salon owners find the right cover.

How do I get an insurance quote?

Professionals are beauty industry workers looking for jobs or career opportunities. This includes hair stylists, nail technicians, beauty therapists, lash techs, makeup artists, spa therapists, tanning consultants, massage therapists, receptionists, and salon managers.

How do I join as a Professional?

Click "Join Free (Professional)" on the homepage and fill out the signup form. You'll create a profile showcasing your skills, experience, certifications, and availability. It's completely free!

What can I do with a Professional account?

Is it free for professionals?

Yes! Professional accounts are completely free with no hidden costs. You get full access to browse jobs, apply for positions, and participate in the community.

How do I apply for jobs?

Visit the Jobs page, browse available positions, and click "Apply Now" on any job that interests you. Your application will be sent directly to the employer.

Can employers see my profile?

Your basic profile (name, location, specialties, experience) is visible to salon owners and suppliers when you apply for jobs. This helps them understand your background and qualifications.

How do I update my profile?

Log in and go to your Professional Dashboard where you can update your bio, skills, certifications, availability status, and contact details at any time.

Can I refer other professionals?

Yes! Share The Salon Hub with other beauty professionals. When they join and create an account, you'll earn referral points towards Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum badges. Get 3+ referrals in a month to enter our monthly prize draw - prizes are supplier deals announced on our socials!

Do I need qualifications to join?

No formal qualifications are required to create a Professional account. However, most employers will expect relevant certifications (NVQ, CIBTAC, VTCT, etc.) for specific roles. Make sure to list any qualifications you have on your profile.

How do I pay for my supplier listing?

Currently, payment is arranged via email after your application is approved. We're implementing automated Stripe payments soon. You'll receive payment instructions at payments@salonhub.co.uk.

Can I get a refund?

Do prices include VAT?

Can I lose points?

Points are only deducted when you redeem them for rewards. Your total points (lifetime earned) never decrease - they show your overall contribution to the community. Available points can go down when redeemed.

What are levels?

As you earn points, you level up every 150 points! Higher levels unlock special perks and show your expertise. You can reach Level 9+ just by completing all guides!

Are there any hidden achievements?

Yes! Some achievements are hidden until you unlock them. Keep exploring the platform to discover secret achievements like "Night Owl" (log in between 2-4am) and more!
